【自学指导】

I. Listen to the tape and answer the following questions.

      1. What is Millie going to do this Saturday afternoon?

      2. Who would like to come?

      Then ask them to answer the questions.

II. Play the tape again and get students to read after the tape. Then discuss the next question in groups and each group chooses one student to answer this questions.

   The question is :How can Daniel get to the place?

    III. Present a sample dialogue.

     A: Excuse me, do you know which is the way to … ?

B: It’s easy. First, … Then, ...    

     Next, .... Finally, ...  You can’t miss it.

A: Thanks.

Then ask them to practise the dialogue like this .And ask some pairs to act out this dialogue.

IV. Introduce the two tones,falling tone and rising tone. 英语有两种基本的语调: 调和降调。升降的过程可以是急促的，也可以是缓慢的，还可以形成不同的组合。说话人可以通过语调准确地表达各种信息。

V. How to use falling and rising tone

1.  When we speak, we drop our tone at the end of a statement. Listen to the tape and repeat.

2.  When we ask a yes / no question, our tone rises at the end of the question. Listen to the tape and repeat.

3.  When we ask a wh-question, our tone usually falls at the end of the question. Listen to the tape and repeat.

4.  We make our tone rise at the end of a sentence to show surprise.Listen to the tape and repeat.
