背景知识
英国中学课程设置
英国的义务教育为11年,即小学6年,中学5年。英国中学的年级划分一般是延续小学的年级,即从7—11年级。英国中学的课程设置尽可能地保持科学技术、人文学科和艺术学科之间的平衡。开设包括英语、数学、现代语言,地理、历史、科学、音乐、戏剧,信息技术、设计技术、美术与设计、个人与社会教育、体育、宗教教育等多项课程。其中科学包含了生物,物理、化学和科学调查等内容。美国中学课程设置
美国初中为6—8年级,高中为9 12年级。开设的主要课程有英语、数学、科学,社会学、体育,音乐、美术。另外还有一些辅助课程,包括健康教育、外语、实践等。和中国的语文课不同,美国中学的英语课被划分为阅读和语言艺术。美国中学的数学课和中国相比,教学目标和难度相对简单,主要学习代数。而科学集集物理、化学、生物、地球学等学科于一身。社会学也是是一门综合性的学科,包括地理、历史、经济学、宪法及公民的权利与义务等。
教学步骤

Step I呈现
1与学生进行交流,引入本单元活题。教师说:You study at..Middle School for many days Do you like your new school? Do you tell your parents about your new school? What do you tell them?鼓励学生给出自己的答案,如I like my school I tell my parents about classmates and sports接着教师呈现说I think you can tell them about your friends and teachers
2通过情境或照片,向学生呈现课程名称。教师说I am teaching English now.So I am your English teacher. 板书so。接着呈现各门课的教师授课的照片并问学生:
Who is this teacher? What subject does he/she teach? He/She teaches……。板书
biology,geography,history等常用的课程名称,帮助学生正确掌握读音。
Step lI 操练
1指导学生完成课本A部分的练习。教师说:We have many subjects at school.Please look at the pictures in Part A Write the name of each subject under each picture.
2与学生一起看图进行交流。教师说Look at Picture One What subject does Kitty have? Look at Picture Two What subject do they have? 以此方法,检查学生对新知识的掌握。如:
Picture Three:What subject does Millie learn?
Picture Four:What subject is this?
Picture Five:What subject is this?
Picture Six:What subject does this teacher teach?
Picture Seven:Do you know this subject? What is it?
Picture Eight:What subject does this teacher teach?

Step III呈现
1利用学生的课程表,呈现新知识。教师说What\'s the date today? 板书date。教师一边在黑板上写卜当天的日期,一边说It\'s…Here is your schedule What lessons do you have today?鼓励学生用刚学过的知识,根船实际情况回答。接着教师说:What’s the date tomorrow? What lessons do you have tomorrow?通过学生的回答检验学生掌握情况。
2继续利用课程表和学生的作息表,呈现新知识。教师说:What time is your Maths lesson? What time does your Chinese lesson begin?启发学生根据实际情况回答It begins at…o’clock.板书o’dock。教师再说:Do you have a class meeting every week? Do you have a parents’meeting?板招meeting。教师接着说:
Some schools have an Open Day.It’S for parents to visit sch001.Do you have an Open Day? What’s the date of your Open Day? Do you want an Open Day?
Would you like an Open Day?鼓励学生根据实际回答。
3向学生介绍B部分的语境。教师说Millie wants her mother to come to school on the Open Day, Please listen to the tape and answer these questions
(1)What’s the date of the Open Day in Millie\'s school?
(2)Can Millie’s mother go to her school?
(3)What time does the parents ’meeting begin?
(4) What else do parents do after the meeting?
(5)Where does Millie meet her mother?
Step IV 操练
1播放录音,让学生朗读对话。
2将班级分为两大组,或按男女生分角色朗读对话
